Why Trust Coinbound Content?

Launched in 2015, Discord was initially limited to the gaming niche alone. It aimed to enable gamers to chat while playing games. But today, Discord is used across many segments after undergoing several updates during these years to support various use cases and is an effective tool for creating podcasts.

The major segment that Discord has attracted is none other than podcasters. So, what is it that makes Discord attractive to podcasters? Its audio-focus features and availability of bots to get the conversation going. Interesting! Right?

If anyone owns a podcast and is curious to know how to leverage Discord to build a solid community, they have come to the right place. In this article, we will be discussing how to make a podcast channel on Discord. So, let’s dive into it now.

Create a Podcast Server

The first thing on Discord that a podcaster needs is a server, which is basically similar to a group that provides an ability to create channels by categories and add users.

To create a server, click on the plus (+) button and then, click on the “Create Mine” option shown. Before the next step, a podcaster must decide if they want an open community where all their listeners can join or a closed one for friends only.

After this, choose an appropriate name of the server and add a logo or a photo. These will act as an identity of the server.

Once these steps are completed, they will see an option using which a podcaster can add friends to the server.

If adding friends directly is something a podcaster doesn’t want to do, then they can get a link to share as well. To get the invite link, they can copy the link below the “Or, Send a Server Invite Link to a Friend” section.

Next, it’s time to add a popular Discord bot known as “Craig.” To integrate the Craig bot into the server, visit its website first.

There will be an option “Invite Craig to your Discord server” on the website. Clicking it will open a new tab where a prompt will ask the podcast creator to log in to the server where they want to add Craig. But, they must have permission to manage the server to carry out this step.

That’s it! The Craig bot is now available on the server. Now, to begin an audio conversation, click on “General.” By doing so, an audio discussion can be initiated.

The Craig bot confirms the beginning of voice recording through a sound. Once done with the recording, use a shortcut “: craig: exit” in the message box and click send to end it.

Next, the bot will share a link to download the recording. There is also an option to choose the format. The available formats include Audacity Project, FLAC, WAV, AAC (MPEG-4), and more. That’s it! The podcast channel is all set.
