Challenge
Making security infrastructure land with DeFi users
Security infrastructure is essential in crypto but hard to market. It works in the background, and most users only think about it after an exploit. Forta needed crypto-native voices who could explain why real-time threat detection matters, in language DeFi users already respond to.
The campaign had to reach a wide audience quickly without reading like a wall of paid promotion.
Solution
A tight roster of DeFi and alpha creators on X
Coinbound built a roster of 16 creators on X spanning DeFi researchers, thread writers, ecosystem news accounts and larger crypto personalities, with one post from each over 18 days in March 2024.
Mix of reach and credibility
Larger accounts carried reach, while DeFi-focused writers and news accounts added context and credibility. Together they covered a combined following of more than 2.3 million.
Staggered posting
Posts were spread across the campaign window so Forta stayed in feeds for more than two weeks instead of peaking on a single day.
Launch PR for the Forta URL Authenticator
In August 2024, Coinbound followed up with launch PR for the Forta URL Authenticator, a free Chrome extension that checks Web3 links in real time. The announcement led with a striking data point, that around 10% of Ethereum transactions are scam-related, and was picked up by crypto outlets including ZyCrypto, Crypto-News.net and Blockspot.
Results
433K+ views and 4,100+ engagements in 18 days
The 16 posts generated more than 433,000 views in 18 days, reaching a combined following of more than 2.3 million.
Five months later, the URL Authenticator launch put Forta back in the news with a consumer-facing security story, extending the awareness the KOL campaign had built.
