Challenge

Explaining a new kind of protocol at its biggest moment

Decentralized storage is harder to explain than a token or an app. Walrus needed crypto audiences to understand what it does and why it matters, right as it approached mainnet and the $WAL airdrop.

It also needed its own identity. Walrus is built on Sui, but it had to stand on its own rather than read as a footnote to Sui's campaign.

Solution

A dedicated creator campaign, run alongside Sui

Coinbound ran Walrus as its own client and campaign, with its own creator roster, content plan and reporting, coordinated with our Sui program so the two supported each other without competing for the same slots.

Education first

We opened with threads and deep dives that explained Walrus in plain terms, including a deep dive from The DeFi Edge, educational short videos and YouTube coverage, so audiences understood the protocol before the big moments arrived.

Built around mainnet and the airdrop

Posting peaked around mainnet and the $WAL airdrop, with creators walking their audiences through what launched and how to claim, backed by livestream integrations with Paul Barron.

Creators matched to the story

We activated DeFi educators, market commentators and regional voices, including a Turkish-language creator, from Jussy, Fabiano and Altcoin Gordon to Headboy, Kyle Chasse and Stacy Muur.

Tracked post by post

Every post was logged with its views, likes, reposts and replies, so Walrus could see which creators and formats were landing week to week.
